dear neka,

i hope you're feeling much better now. i am glad you spoke and listened to me today. i was afraid you were gonna brush me off... you know we never talk serious. when mom told me you were at home and that they got mad at you, and the reason why, i realized that you were in the same sort of trouble that i was in exactly when i was at your age.

and like you said earlier, you remember it happening. of course, you were right there.

even so, i chose not to say anything to you before, even when i heard of things. i thought it'd be best if you learnt on your own. and since i also know how stubborn you are (because i am too), i knew that it would be useless to say anything. also, i really think you should learn things on your own, nek-nek. you see it naman with me, but you need to see it for yourself too.

although, when i heard you sad earlier, i felt bad about not taking the time out to try and talk to you, just so you wouldn't end up sad like this. but i know naman that it would have been futile too, you'd still do what you like anyway (because you're like me nga. :)

things will get better, because they always will. dad will talk to you again, eventhough he'd be giving you the silent treatment siguro for a bit. that's just how daddy is. and i know how sad and painful it is to have daddy mad and disappointed at you but it will be ok. mommy will talk to you, but she will give you sad looks too. but this is your consequence - for choosing to go against what they asked for. i know, because i did this too. in fact, i know exactly how you're feeling. when you were crying, i wanted to cry too. you sounded like me, except i had no one to talk to. it'll be hard to look at mom and dad in the eye because you know you got them mad and disappointed at you, but it really will get better.

just remember, they don't have that rule to torture you. as much as i hate to say this because it makes me feel old, you are young. and right now, it's cool to hang out with you, with your friends because you can get to know yourself better. like i told you earlier, give yourself that headache when you're a little older na... it'll make you appreciate the purpose of having a "significant other".

you got lots of things going for you, you don't need the trouble that going against them on this will cause you. and don't worry nek, mom and dad will trust you again. they'll do that because they love you.

anyway, yun lang. earlier today, when i was talking to you, i could almost see you little again with your curly hair in braids, crying. i miss you being little, neka, but you're big na eh. big enough to know what you should do. and i know you'll probably still do lots of stupid things (because that's just how it is), but i'll know about it. if i don't find out, you better tell me. :) i hope you keep your promise. i didn't ask you that because mom and dad asked me to, i asked you that because i wanted you to be better than i was, maybe don't go through the other fights that i went through.

but anyway, again... i'll leave you to it. but i'll talk to you again when i feel the need to.

in the meantime, go write daddy a letter. he'll appreciate it. :)

i love you nek, eventhough you're growing up na and i am now gonna watch you try to handle things, be brave and strong about everything. but hey, if you feel like crying like a kid again, that's what we're here for.

be good neka, i'll be watching. hehe, just kidding.

love,
ate kaye
