My mom sent me this forward about a teacher having her students carry a bag of potatoes - one potato per person they hated/didn't like - for a week wherever they went. the moral of the story was that the stench of hatred contaminates one's heart, making it heavier to carry as time goes by. so just love everyone, even those that you dislike.
But that's not exactly the part i liked best. (summary lang yun nung forward. haha)
at the end of the powerpoint, it said: True love is not loving a perfect person but loving an imperfect person perfectly.
i guess the one reason why we can say that a person is "perfect" is because we love them exactly for who they are - weird quirks and all. there's none of that nonsense of trying to change them into something that fits into the idea of "right" in your head because they are already right - for you. it was one of the things i used to rebel at - why do i have to change so you'll be happy with me? why do i have to follow what you want me to be? shouldn't you love me for who i am? in the end, it became: maybe i'm not good enough as "me", maybe i do have to change.
for a time i thought that was how things were supposed to work. in the end, your self gets tired of trying to be someone you're really not. and then you find someone who just lets you be you. loves you exactly for being you. it's a lot like being free.
I'm imperfect. super. but i'm loved perfectly, because i'm loved for being me.
Free diba? Happiness. Everything is easy.
Please, let's not forget that. haha :D
