the weekend that was hong kong (and shenzhen)
i want to go back to Hong Kong.
that was my net take out of the whole trip.
why?
well, first: it rained practically the whole time we were there. well, it rained on the day we designated as "shopping day" - which also was our absolute last day. so i didn't get to go to everything, nor check out all the shops because of the gawddamn rain. i spent most of it being just a tad annoyed by all the water. sigh. and i didn't even get to go see Victoria Peak, which i really wanted to see. haaay...
despite that tho, i managed to buy a pretty snazzy bag from Muji which cost me a LOT. but i don't mind, i lurves it. haha! :D
the most annoying bit there is that the rain stopped at about 4pm... and we were leaving for the airport by 6!! raarrggh. i guess i wasn't really meant to shop much.. except i did end up spending all my money. i guess that meant meager stuff i got weren't exactly, um, cheap. hehe. :D
second: i didn't research this trip as much as i should've - got sidetracked by work. now i have a bunch of places in mind that i want to check out (and that's because i just read julette's blog) so now i wanna go back and do all that.
third: chinese food! i hardly ate any chinese food. i ate noodles at the airport, for crying out loud. haha! most of my meals were mcdo and spaghetti house. i did eat chinese food that were part of the tour in shenzhen but they weren't all that great. oh well. this means research yet again, i should've asked glads for places to eat in.
however, the trip ROCKED!
i mean, complaints aside, i had a lot of fun. First off, i was with sayangku. Second, i was with friends. :D bliss. highlights of the trip were:
- "ski alps" at Windows of the World in Shenzhen. what started out as a "look at what we found!" turned into "tara, let's go try!" a short time later, we found ourselves in jackets and boots, dragging tubes up a slope of ice and sliding down on it. SOBRANG SARAP. hahaha! that was the ONLY highlight of the shenzhen trip
- panic shopping in shenzhen. who in their right mind will give pinoys only an hour to shop?! but i was happy, i managed to get really nice sandals for myself and my mom and a cute bag as well. i would've bought more, but nothing caught my eye. well... this one shoe did but it was sooo mahal. so i had to let go of it. oh well. :p
- camwhoring everywhere. if it weren't raining, i'd have taken more pictures. i swear. haha
- hongkong public transpo rocks!! eventho it cost HK$100 one way to take the train to the airport, ok lang! everything was so convenient. i love their public transpo - i've never felt so mobile in my life
- despite getting really tired, i did have fun walking around... even if it had to be under an umbrella. haha
i want to go back and stay longer. actually, just take out the shenzhen trip and i'd have been fine with three days. :)
will post pictures too, but will do that later. :D

Aha...you should've asked me about SZ. :) I know some good places to shop...really cheap and coolies. There's the hua ciang bei road and Dong Men for good bargaining shopping. hehe :)
SZ food is really good. They have good salted fish with eggplant rice...yummy. And old wife's cake that's cheap but good.
There's always a next time! :)
BTW, did you get my message re: some contacts from Gasso or Publicis? I have a favor to ask of you. What's your new e-mail address? I'll e-mail it to you if you don't mind. :)
pero oo nga. punyeta yang tourguide na yan, isang oras to shop.. shempre wala akong nabili! leche!
lets go back and conquer HK!
