my little piece of history

last night, i was looking at my favorite organiser from way back - i bought it at target near my tita's house in maryland. it wasn't just your typical organiser, it had far side comics for each week. not only was it a complete, it also made me laugh. i was a bonafide far side fan because of it.

anyway, the organiser lasted me through year 12 at BIS and about half of my first year in college.

so looking through it last night made me laugh and here are some things that i learnt:

1. before i was Kayers (picked this nickname up at the citi because of FILC), i was Kayeish. this was from Kris - who went through an -ish stage for a while (coolish, supish, etc. hehehe)

2. man, i found some sappy poems! ahaha! written back in high school. now i can' remember who they pertain to, if they did pertain to anyone. one poem there tho could easily fit into now... except it has gotten a little too mushy for my taste. haha. but it fits still.

3. anyone remember?
if you need a shoulder to cry on, i'll be right here
if you need a friend to rely on, i'll be right here
you can tell me things that have been haunting you
i'll be right here, i'll be your friend

sigh. i actually made ian write out the lyrics himself. this was the song of the barkada. and amazingly enough, it still has that same "aww" effect as it did when we first heard it. it's more pronounced now i guess, because it has such great memories behind it.

4. codenames will always be a part of our lives

i don't think we've stopped doing this at all. haha!

4. history is history

looking through the entries in the organiser made me realise that it was all just that - history. old homework, old exams, even my first year college first sem schedule. especially the events i listed down because they were memorable. reading them now just leaves me with a feeling of "yeah... that happened." but i can no longer recall the exact feeling of the moment when i wrote them down. i know that i used to be able to - but it really has been so long that i can't do it anymore.

i read Kris' notes to me (we used to do this a lot) and i can no longer hear her voice in my head as i used to when i read them. that's because Kris is older now and i'm older and when i look at the notes, i can just see us as kids. but it's still us. it's pretty amazing - how time has flown. i wonder what i wrote to her? girl, patingin naman one time. haha.

i love looking through old stuff. I guess this is why i'm such a pack-rat, i can't let go of tangible memories. a day will come when i'll have to pick which ones i will leave behind and which ones i will bring with me - but until that day comes, they will all sit in one of my cabinets waiting for me to remember them.

I believe that every part of history -- whether you choose to keep it or leave it behind is already a part of who you are today.

And leaving it or keeping it just shows you what you plan to do about it. Will it become a weakness or will it become a strength? It's always the person's call.

Thank you for replying. :) I am glad you guys are doing good. If you guys are planning anything like gimmik or what, just feel free to contact me. Am game. :P Time for catch up...and the spilling of the secret recipe of japuts.

And like every other person that has stumbled, I'm glad things are going well for you and...whasisname? :P Hehe.
