why did God make tears?

forwarded emails say that God made tears so that women can have a way to express her joy, sorrow, pain, disappointment, love, loneliness, grief and pride. since He gave her so many things to handle and cope, her tears are her release.

tears are a complicated thing. sometimes they come unexpectedly, when you least want them. they flow too freely, even when you try to hold them in. the harder you try to hold them, the stronger and faster they come. they blur your vision, block your nose and make you gasp for breath until you feel like you can never breathe again. they make your eyes swollen, your face red and your body shake.

no matter how much you try not to show exactly what you feel, tears come to betray you each and every single time. no fail.

but somehow, no matter how tiring crying can be, you have to be thankful that you were given tears. imagine keeping it all inside, even if you want to. if it weren't for tears, women would all sponteneously combust one after the other. but tears come to flow quietly, as if draining everything away.

when the tears are spent, you feel calm. clean. quiet. the hurt doesn't leave but the heaviness in your chest has been lessened somehow.

tears are good and well, a great invention from the One who thinks of everything. they're not only for sorrow, pain and helplessness but for joy as well.

i just wish though, that more people cried for happiness rather than for pain. at least then, tears will be welcome and a joy to see.

otherwise, it's just doubly sad to see someone cry in pain. :p
