I'm supposed to be packing up my stuff already but i just had to get this off my chest (not like i haven't had a lot of chances kanina.. this thing has been talked bout to death already. :P)

anyway, earlier this morning i get a call from my boss in citibank as she was requesting to meet with me sometime late this afternoon (or yesterday as the case may be) or tomorrow. of course, i am off tomorrow so i told her i couldn't. so i'm sitting here thinking i must have done something wrong when she informs me that our director is insisting that i come in much, much earlier because they are swamped with projects with too little staff. of course i say i can't... since:

1. my tickets from may all the way to july have been booked and paid for and;
2. i told them upfront, even before they offered, that i was only available in july because of family matters.

however, our director is apparently going quite ballistic, insisting that i do come in and that if i don't... (ellipsis)

I say to my boss, "so what happens now? because i really can't"

she says that she knows my situation. she understands and expects that my travel arrangements would have been finalized by this time already and that she remembers that they did agree to my coming in in july. she said that she was sorry to have to ask me to come in early. so she goes, i'll call you back this afternoon.. because i don't really know what happens now.

around 6pm this afternoon, i text her to ask what the status was. she calls back and tells me that our director basically gave her an ultimatum to terminate me since i couldn't come early. (TERMINATE. fucker.) however, she concedes, because she's already made an agreement with me, she will not turn back on that because it's been made.

take note however, that the whole time she's saying this, her voice has that sad, agitated tone to it. like she was napipilitan to say that she was gonna honor our agreement.

BUT! that's not the least of it. She continues to say that "I hope you realize.. blah blah" in short, that this is sort of a favor na, that she's in big trouble just by refusing to terminate me, that the team is swamped with projects and that they're really short-handed and that basically, it's all shit (not in those words). but since there's an agreement, i'm still ok.

Guilt trip to the max man.

--==--

OK.

First of all, i was very upfront when i told them that i wasn't available until July. They agreed. they understood.

Second, i didn't ask to be offered. In fact, i was pretty surprised that they still did considering July was far off pa. They said, yes, we can wait for you. besides, you can't really work yet until you've graduated.

Third, what the fuck was that guilt trip thing?! now i'm supposed to have utang na loob to her because she did me the favor of not terminating me?! They were swamped with work even before we left... they anticipated our leaving but did not act much. sure, they got two project hires to replace the four of us. the second one left after 5 days.... were they active enough to search for her replacement?! NO. now, if that girl was replaced as soon as she left, she'd be honed in the skills by now and will probably be helping out quite a lot already.

Fourth and finally, I AM NOT WORKING FOR THEM. NO FUCKING WAY. NOT AFTER THIS.

Consider: i'm not even officially part of the bank, yet i'm already being treated with some kind of disrespect. I understood their situation but they also agreed to mine. I signed only because they said it was ok to come in July. I wouldn't have if that wasn't the case. The guilt-trip and all the other side comments were unnecessary. Fine, they're stressed, they're desperate but to say those things... to me... fuck you.

Consider again: say i come back in July. Of course the fact that i couldn't come in May and help out will be held against me, eventho unspoken. I'll be known as the one that made the team wait and suffer. And when i make mistakes, they're going to be saying, i should have just terminated her in the first place.

Sure, i may be being a little pessimistic here but it's true. That's what will go on.

Nawalan ako ng gana. Nawalan ako ng respeto. Ayoko magkaron ng utang na loob sa inyo... i didn't ask for this job. It was given to me. And i made sure to let everyone know my situation.

So bakit ganito? honoring nga your damn word pero sapilitan. Against your will. Mejo galit pa kasi napagalitan din siya.

So fuck it man... i'm not gonna start in Citibank. I'll go and look for a job again. Somewhere where i may be treated a little better. More professionally.

I'm upset. More so because i don't deserve to be spoken to that way, to have to be made guilty that way about something i was very honest about RIGHT FROM THE START.

so come monday, guys, This girl right here.. is no longer the future Citibanker.

My future definitely lies somewhere else.
